ALAN JOHNAlan John was brought up in Banff, Aberdeenshire and began learning the violin at the age of 8. At 16 he entered the North East of Scotland Music School in Aberdeen where he won a scholarship to receive lessons from Gillian Findlay. He then followed her to continue his studies at Trinity College of Music, London. After 2 years he gained a transfer place to study with Edwin Paling and Ruth Crouch at the RSAMD in Glasgow where he recently graduated with 1st Class Honours. Alan is currently following a Postgraduate course at the RSAMD where he plays with a number of chamber groups and orchestras, most recently leading the RSAMD Chamber Orchestra and at the end of the year, leading the RSAMD Opera Orchestra. During the last 18 months Alan has also been playing with the RSNO, BBCSSO and the Orchestra of the Scottish Opera.
